Welcome to the website of the Lupus Celebrity. I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE in October, 2005. My goal is to put a spotlight on Lupus and for it to become a disease that gets as much press, publicity and charitable donations as other, more well known diseases. Part of that will be reporting in my blog when someone famous announces they have lupus or are rumored to have lupus,which is usually more the case, hence the website name, Lupus Celebrity. We need a celebrity spokesperson for this disease and no one is stepping up yet but hopefully someone will soon. We need a leader for lupus in Hollywood! Come out from hiding under your heating pad!
In my blog I will also share important lupus news and my struggles day to day as a wife and a mother living one day at a time with lupus. I am a 37 year old happily married mother of 2 boys, 6 years old and 1 year old, the loves of my life.
I have also created a forum that I hope you will join. I have found being a member of an online lupus support group has been so helpful in making me feel less alone & meet friends who can relate to my pain, fatigue, malaise, depression, etc. Lupus can be a very isolating illness and I spent many years alone, depressed and scared. I hope we can build a community of support here for newly diagnosed & long term lupies alike so please check out the forum and share your story to help others and yourself.
